The Reflection:

Group Reflection:

The group progress and success of this project relied almost entirely on the collaboration we could all achieve. To collaborate effectively as a group, we used a selection of communication lines. Firstly Whatsapp and Microsoft Teams were the overall and essential forms of contact between us in which we set up weekly calls to progress the project. Through this, I felt I had an exact way of contacting each of the members and found it worked extremely effectively. We would always record the decisions and goals set in each weekly contact session, so we clearly understood everything. This organisation also made it much more straightforward for people who could not turn up or for ones who did not turn up. We would still be able to relay the information, so they had the full option in giving their ideas forward. The only slight collaboration problem I had was that we all had such varying times to call due to different locations. I overcame this issue by keeping lists of who could come to calls and when and later we had a set time of 2/3 pm that managed to work for all of us.

Miro was also crucial in our collaboration because it allowed us to place each stage of our work in an area we could all view and add to. This project was the first time I used Miro to collect and organise work and development. Being introduced to it from my group members was a perfect depiction of how collaboration between different disciplines opened my work process. I found Miro to have many tools to create more work, form better development paths and a fair way of decision making in groups through the votes and polls we included. So I do believe I will go on to use this program more in future projects.

Through these forms, I had a clear path of the progression, and the final piece developed through a variety of trials and tests. Overall, I believe the final posters are incredibly close to an authentic last look I would want to achieve. The piece took a graphic design path that allowed me to explore more advertising and illustrative skills. I believe this improved my idea drawings, and I learned more programs and ways in visually representing my ideas to a group audience. Furthermore I think the posters correctly portray the aim of informing the consumer what is truly behind their CAVs. This information would create more considerable pressure from the public for companies to do better and hopefully make truly positive automated cars in our society. However, with slightly more time, I would have created a more coherent informational section with an exact frame either entirely written paragraphs of information, a paragraph with bullet point bursts of data after it or just bullet-pointed information. So each theme would have the same presentation and level of knowledge.

Individual Reflection:

For the personal project, I created a response that looked at the theme of mobility in a broad range. Instead of specialising in automated cars like the group piece, I approached mobility in air travel. Aeroplanes could be reaching automatic properties already through AutoPilot and the selection of other automated responses they do. So I wanted to explore mobility differently and think about other factors that affect our mobility, not just the mechanics and motion but also a more human factor of impact by covid on our overall mobility as humans and the travel sector.

The research of the change in air travel due to Covid was exciting because it allowed me to respond to a topic that will significantly affect us. The new model and design formed through research and idea brainstorming show my interior design knowledge and study. The final 1:20 scale model was simple in design. Simplistic so the overall weight and cost would not be too large for aviation companies to implement, something critical in aviation design. The customer would also easily be able to understand and feel comfort and safety while in it.

In addition to the new plane design, I formed an informational poster. It acts as a clear depiction to customers of what their new process would be. Through my work with the group, I learned about form, simplification of information and the importance of choosing a suitable colour pallet. Therefore I took this knowledge and applied it to my personal information poster design. If I were to have a point of further improving I would want to create a selection of versions of this poster design and test my model with the actual materials to entirely choose and demonstrate the physical decisions in terms of weight, cleanliness and experience.
